Urban Green Spaces

In my opinion, urban green spaces are one of the best concepts ever invented for those living in cities. Their many benefits to climate change in addition to their making the lives better of countless people have been coming to light

for quite awhile now.

Urban green spaces come in

many forms: parks, playgrounds, green roofs, streams, community farms and gardens, urban nature preserves, street trees, mini forests.

There many reasons why urban green spaces give us so much hope,

offering a wide range of benefits for the health of people and the world. Thankfully there has been more

and more realization of their necessity and many organizations

and governmental entities are implementing urban green spaces in whatever ways they can.

“There is mounting evidence, from dozens and dozens of researchers, that nature has benefits for both physical and psychological human wellbeing,” says Lisa Nisbet, PhD,

a psychologist at Trent University in Ontario, Canada, who studies connectedness to nature.

“You can boost your mood just by walking in nature, even in urban nature. And the sense of connection you have with the natural world seems to contribute to happiness even when you’re not physically immersed in nature.”
