A Little Bit About Orson

Rocking today's world of art reviewers is Orson Baloo. Yes, he is a bear.

A very handsome and jolly one. With a great sense of humor and a talent for juggling forks and burping the alphabet.

After growing up in Alaska and enjoying careers in berry foraging, salmon fishing, and being a tour guide,

Orson was itching to try his paw at something new. He packed his bags and hitched a ride on a cruise ship to Seattle. After discovering and visiting the many art galleries there, a moment of enlightenment came to him. He pretty much loves all forms of art, but photography was what made him the jolliest. A light bulb flickered on in his mind and this thought kept coming to him, "Why not become an art reviewer for photography?"

And as they say, the rest is history.

One of the many photographers Orson has been following is Kay Rosenof of Morning Breeze Photography. Her versatility and variety of photographic styles are what first caught his attention. In reflecting on her photography, he commented, "She doesn't limit herself to simply one style. There is nothing wrong with doing that at all. But Kay set out to learn how to take pictures of a wide range of subjects, whether it was landscape, macro, portrait, or hardscape."

Kay's willingness to step out of her comfort zone when it comes to learning photography is something that Orson recommends. He advises everyone to do that, young or old, no matter what they are learning. Orson says, "Enjoy life and find something you are passionate about and learn all you can about it. Take a leap of faith and learn a new skill, whether it is fly fishing, raising bees, baking delicious pizza, or growing watermelons."

As far as recommending the work of Morning Breeze Photography, Orson gives it a thumbs-up. But wait. Bears don't have thumbs. So he would like to clarify this to say he gives it a paws-up. Or a claws-up. Either one works for him.

Anyway, back to the subject. Orson likes Kay's photography as it is an important reminder of the amazing wonderfulness of nature in this time of climate change. He believes it shows us the astounding beauty that we need to protect. He hopes her images spur us on to do what we can to be a supporter or even a worker of taking care of our world.

Speaking for bears and all the animals of our big blue planet, Orson's hope is that more and more humans realize how important nature is for every person and every animal. Great advice from a big jolly handsome bear from Alaska!!!
